Yellow Ribbon Program

What is the Yellow Ribbon Program?

Chapter 33 students with 100% entitlement are eligible to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program. This program is a supplement to the Post 9/11 GI Bill that helps veterans bridge the gap between the Post 9/11 tuition benefits and the actual cost of tuition and fees. At UTM, the Yellow Ribbon program provides 5 out of state undergraduate students a $2,000 scholarship ($1,000 from UTM and $1,000 matching funds from VA). Students currently on Active Duty are not eligible to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program.

Am I Eligible?

You may qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Program benefit if you:

  • Served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months and were honorably discharged
  • Were discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001; or
  • Are a dependent who received benefits transferred from an eligible Service Member
  • Enrolled as an out of state undergraduate
