Welcome to TESS!
The UTM Transfer Equivalency Self-Service (TESS) site has been designed to assist you in discovering how the courses you have taken at other institutions will transfer and can be used to earn a degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Click here to begin and follow five easy steps to get started!
Step 1: Create an account. For best results, create a login account so that you can save your transfer and degree evaluations and return to it at later date for updating courses completed and intended degrees.
Step 2: Answer a few questions about your intended start date and desired UTM degree. A list of UTM programs is available here: Degree Programs.
Step 3: Select your institution(s) and courses you took including which term. Please include courses from all institutions you have previously attended or currently attending.
- The designation LD for lower-division credit and UD for upper-division credit will be used if no UTM equivalent course exists. LD and UD credits may be applied toward degree requirements that do not designate specific course number requirements.
- Do not be concerned if a course that you have completed at another institution is not found, that is an indicator that we have not previously evaluated the course.
- If your course work was prior to 1995, please use our Transfer Equivalency Table to find the UTM equivalent.
Step 4: Review your unofficial degree evaluation for your intended degree at UTM.
- Please be aware that if you are a Tennessee Transfer Pathway student that the articulation agreement may increase courses used towards your UTM degree. The Records Office may be contacted for more information.
Step 5: Let us know how we can assist you in transferring to UTM!

Please note that the transfer and degree evaluation reports that you have created are NOT official. Rather, they should be used as a guide to help you understand how your classes taken at previous institutions may transfer to UTM and may apply to degree requirements. Official transfer and degree evaluations are not completed until you have submitted your official transcripts and you are fully admitted to UTM.
