Thank you for your interest in UT Martin’s Educator Preparation Program.
All students (including non-degree seeking) who are pursuing teacher licensure must be admitted to the Educator Preparation Program.
The requirements for admission to the Educator Preparation Program will differ depending on your program path.
Please remember, students will not be able to register for or obtain permits for any upper division classes until they are fully admitted to the Educator Preparation Program. A prerequisite/test code error will be given during registration if you have not been fully admitted.

Admission Requirements for the Education Preparation Program
Initial Licensure Undergraduate/Post Baccalaureate Candidates
- Students must have an ACT score of 22 or higher, SAT score of 1100 or higher, OR pass all 3 parts of the Praxis CORE exam.
Note: If the ACT score is self-reported, please go to the ACT website, create an account, download the official score, and send this information to the EPP Office. - Students must establish and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Students must demonstrate an acceptable level of written and oral communication skills during an interview process. Students will complete interview application while enrolled in TCED 211 (or equivalent EPP course for major) for undergraduate students.

Login with UT Martin email address. - Students must submit to and successfully pass a criminal background check and sign the background release form and the VECHS Waiver Agreement and Statement.
If a student does not meet the ACT requirement for Admission to the EPP, he/she must retake the residual or national ACT PRIOR to requesting a formal appeal.
Graduate (Initial Licensure) Candidates
- Students must establish a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for EPP program admission.
- Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 per term until program completion per University Graduate policy.
- Students must demonstrate an acceptable level of written and oral communication skills during an interview process. Students will complete interview application while enrolled in TCED 730.

Continuation in the EPP
In order to remain in the EPP following admission, the candidate must maintain a GPA of 2.75 in all course work, in the major, and in the professional education core.
